In-Office Supplement Dispensary-Sometimes a “Bargain” Costs More

At Integrity Naturopathic, we maintain an in-office supplement dispensary. This is not intended as a passive revenue source for the clinic, but rather as a measure for quality control. By providing supplements on-site, we ensure that if a patient requires something urgently, they can leave with it on the same day as their appointment.

• We are able to contract directly with manufacturers to offer the highest quality products at competitive prices, passing those savings directly to our patients.

• This approach eliminates any miscommunication between the patient and provider when a specific form or dosage of a supplement is necessary; there’s no need for you to search online or in stores—we have it readily available.

It’s important to note that supplements are not as tightly regulated as prescription medications. Sometimes, what is listed on the label does not accurately reflect what is contained in the bottle. At Integrity Naturopathic, we exclusively use prescriber-grade supplements that have undergone independent vetting and testing.

• We strive to acquire them directly from manufacturers to prevent viability issues stemming from improper storage.

• Many large online retailers store their inventory in environments that are not temperature-controlled, which can compromise the potency of herbs or vitamins.

Unfortunately, many of my patients have encountered this issue firsthand. A supplement we prescribed may have been effective, only to seem like it “stopped working” after being purchased elsewhere or from a different brand. This is particularly evident when we monitor lab values that a supplement was helping to improve, only to see those values return to pre-treatment levels.
